Renaissance Square Plans in Downtown Rochester

The Renaissance Square project appears to be moving forward. The latest plans were unveiled and most of the funding is in place. After the failed fast ferry project, some are understandably skeptical. However, the concept of a transportation hub, theatre, and college makes a lot of sense. MCC's theatre students (and others) should then be based out of downtown and they should make full use of the theatre facilities. The bus hub should help provide students (and residents) access to the whole county. I hope MCC will look to grow student housing downtown. It's been very successful in Brighton, and having students actually live downtown is a huge asset to the city. It brings 24/7 traffic to the area. One only needs to look at the Eastman School's impact--which is a small school--to the East End to see what it could do.

The Big Picture and the Rhinos

Here's a quick follow up to the previous post. First, the Big Picture was unveiled. Here's a small Democrat & Chronicle article which contains a picture of it. As for the Rhinos, they got beaten handily by the score of 3-0 on a cool rainy evening. They were a young team, and it showed tonight. But, their future should be bright, while PAETEC Park's phase II additions will make it an even better place for watching soccer next year.
